Erie Niagara AHEC's Executive Director, Danise Wilson, is stepping away from her position after over 13 tremendous years of service in the NYS AHEC System. Although we are sad to see her go, we are cheering her onto her next journey. Read more below to learn about her admirable past and exciting future!
How would you summarize your journey at AHEC (both in the New York State AHEC Office and Erie Niagara AHEC)?
It has been very rewarding. I have learned and grown tremendously both professionally and personally. I have been able to work with countless individuals that have enriched my spirit and encouraged me to work hard every day!
What's your favorite Erie Niagara AHEC memory?
There are far too many to narrow down, but I would have to say working with community, our students and program participants have been extremely rewarding. My heart smiles every time I hear a student wanting to go into health professions or completed a health profession program. It is extremely rewarding.
What are you looking forward to in Erie Niagara AHEC's future?
Growing into a well-established health workforce organization that offers full service education opportunities.
What's your next adventure?
I have been charged to lead a reproductive health organization fighting to address reproductive education and justice in America.

I would like to thank God for aligning great people and resources around me to fulfill the mission of Erie Niagara AHEC. I would like to thank my husband Shaun who picked up the slack for me when this work became time-consuming and demanding. I would like to thank all the staff, board and volunteers I have worked with that were instrumental in ensuring all of our programs were successful! Thank you to all of our community partners and supporters. I would like to thank each and every program participant that trusted us to educate and empower to mitigate health disparities.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Erie Niagara AHEC will always be a part of my heart. The work we do is always relevant and needed in this community. I hope that we are changing the face and delivery of health care on individual at a time. I am always your number one fan!
